Happy New Year to one and all!
This is an old fashioned New Years Card sent to my mother Evelyn from her friend Eva, probably back in the 1930's.

Remembering Snowy Times
On this snowy day, remembering some snowy times in W.Va.
This was my mother's, Evelyn Findley Swisher's homeplace where she grew up on a farm in Simpson, W.Va. Later on her brother, Eldon Findley bought the farm and raised his family there.
This is a walk through a snowy woods with my niece Becky Swisher Duclos on the right and a little girl I babysitted for named Tracey Fisher Robertson .
Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening By Robert Frost
Who's woods are these I think I know
His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.
My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the wood and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year
He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake
The only other sound's a sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake
The woods are lovely, dark and deep.
But I have promises to keep
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.
A picture of me, Linda Swisher Kovach, at home in W.Va.
This is my great niece, Amber Faull and my daughter, Amanda Kovach on a visit back in Grant Town, W.Va.

Uh, oh! Here's some more horns!
I remember a story my Mom told about one time when they were on vacation up in the mountains at Harmon's cottages where my Dad liked to fish and us kids liked to swim in the North Branch of the South Potomic River. There was a cold water springs that fed into the river. One day my Dad got a watermelon and put in the water to keep it cold for dinner that night. Then he decided to go fishing. My Mom and Aunt Grace decided to play a trick on him. While he was fishing, they hid the watermelon. When he went to look for it that night he thought someone had stolen it! They had a good laugh about that!

Arthur and Lola Swisher
The Swisher family always loved to get together for family reunions. This picture was probably taken at a family reunion. Watermelon was a favorite! I remember even at our house when we would get together with my brother, Jim and Jean and their family, Rachel, Kevin, Ronda, Kelly, and Jimmy, my brother Don and Cathy and their sons, Chris and Brian, and my sister, Lois and Ron and their two daughters, Vicki and Becky. Dad would be grilling steaks or some BBQ chicken and sometimes hamburgers. Mom would fix her delicious potato salad and iced tea. And later we would have watermelon. I remember all the grandchildren having a seed spitting contest!
